1. Introduction / Installing
Sombrero is available for download here.
The software needs very little installation. The Sombrero program
itself should be ready to run if your system is supported. If not,
email me (shaun.mahony(AT)nuigalway.ie) and I'll do my best to provide
you with a working version of the software. The two supporting scripts
that are distributed with Sombrero (i.e. the background model generator
and the results viewer) require that Perl (with the Tk module) is
installed on your computer. If you are a Unix or Linux user, then
you probably don't have to worry about this. If you are a Windows
user, you can download Perl from here.
Sombrero is still very much a work in progress,
so if you use the software, please give us some feedback on the
experience and report any bugs. Finally, don't forget to acknowledge
Sombrero in your publications!
